Beringia – the entire planning region is considered part of Beringia, an ancient unglaciated northern refugia that extends from eastern Siberia to northern Yukon. The long length of time the region has remained ice-free has resulted in landforms and plants unique to Yukon. The fossil remains of extinct ice age mammals (e.g. mammoths) are common in the Old Crow area.
Blue Fish Caves – a cave complex near the Bluefish River containing one of oldest recorded sites of human occupation in North America.
Old Crow Flats – the largest wetland complex in Yukon and of continental significance for migratory waterbirds.
Porcupine Caribou Herd – the entire planning region is within the wintering grounds of migratory 120,000 Porcupine Caribou Herd, and is a vital cultural and economic resource for the community of Old Crow.
Dempster Highway – the only all season road in Canada to cross Artic Circle and allow viewing of sub-arctic landscapes, vegetation and wildlife.
Rampart and LaPierre House – important historical trading posts and northern gathering places.
